It was the perfect house party: kegs upstairs, a smoking room downstairs, beer pong outside, bands playing in the basement, and people everywhere. We head upstairs, each step feeling more squishy than the last as my strappy sandals become lost in the beer soaked carpet. Hearing one too many 'Yeah mannn's' we turn the corner to find a stack of red cups and a keg. We grab a cup and head towards the keg, our cup is filled by a man flirting with a girl and hardly noticing where he is pouring the beer. We decide to check out the basement. Walking down the second flight of stairs it feels similar to getting off of a plane in a Australia: hot, humid air hits your face. I'm disgusted because I know it's not from a hot tropical country, but rather the accumulation of body heat, smoke, and lack of fresh air. We enter the room with bands playing and the band that happened to be on had their faces hidden with bushes or some sort of greenery strapped to their face. They weren't playing instruments, but rather Nintendo DS's with the sounds from the handheld game projecting through massive speakers. It was actually pretty good. After around 15 minutes I couldn't handle the humidity much longer and decided to take refuge upstairs and refill my cup. I lost my friends, however, I ran into many people I knew which resulted in overly long drunken catch-ups. I needed to pee so badly, but there were too many people standing in line for the bathroom, to do a line in the bathroom. By the time I found my friends again it was around 5:30am and I had somewhere to be by 10am. Time to catch a cab. Waiting on the front lawn covered in 1 litre pop bottles and empty 2'6's of Jack Daniels the cops continued to circle the block. Our one friend picked daisy's out the neighbours garden and gave each of us one as a parting gift. The rest of the night (morning?) is a blur.
Waking up on my friends couch at 9am I frantically woke her up, begging her to drive me to my car. I arrived at my commitment an hour later than planned (as usual) still feeling a little loopy. I somehow managed to function perfectly for a full ten hours.
