"My time is raw silk, and she's treating it like it's jersey knit."
"Half of the sandbar is in my vagina right now."
As most of you probably know, especially if you follow me on Instagram, I've been working on a project for awhile now, Groupchat: The Series. I was inspired by all of the amazing series that I have come across, "High Maintenance", "The Guild", "Master of None", "Fargo", & "Chelsea Does" just to name a few. Although these are nothing like Groupchat, I was inspired by my insane, intelligent, creatively witty friends who I've known for years and have just come to realize that I should publish their personalities. We had been in a groupchat for just over two years, you have no idea the things that were said on this chat, the episode is just scraping the surface; that will give you a sense of how crazy we are. The chat members include Rachael Meckling (The Blonde), Jill Bogan (The Redhead), Sol Phorbes (who actually didn't appear in the episode, but will be making appearance in episode two!), and myself. I went as far back as early 2014 in the groupchat and began taking screenshots of the things that were said in this chat. I had episode ideas already jotted down on my whiteboard, so I took what they had said and wrote a script based around this. I exaggerated their lines and added things, so, I like to say that it is semi-autobiographical; not all true, but not completely fictional. I've spent the last seven months editing with Matthew Garand, who is the person who actually made our amateur acting look half decent. So please, check out his other work. The first episode is very fast paced and the humor is, well, my type of humor but it obviously won't be everyones. We had a party for the first showing of the pilot episode two days ago, and my parents and little brothers showed up. We had cards laying on the table with quotes from the episode and the first thing my dad asks is, "What's a DILF?". I replied with, "Dad, this is why you can't watch this, but I guess you'll find out." he asks, "Well am I a DILF?". The conversation was over and I walked to the back to find a cupcake. To my surprise they were cracking up the entire time throughout the episode, even my little bros!
So, just take it with a grain of salt. I feel like people tend to take things a little too seriously these days. We spend so much time on our phones documenting our lives anyways, why not publish it? And you know you've been in a groupchat before where the weirdest things were said, and if you left the conversation you'd just keep getting added back. So, you have yours. This is ours.
Please share if you even crack a smile (we would love the support to keep creating content).
