I’ve been getting a lot of strange looks around the city lately. I feel the watchful eyes on campus looking at me and thinking, ‘What the fuck is she wearing?’ or quite literally gawking with a smirky laughter or evil stare. It's like the female species fighting for fashion territory, as if we're all in an unknown competition. I don’t get it! I guess I should expect this kind of response in a smaller city where Lululemon reigns supreme and a country bar is a party hot spot, but I digress. Why is the female mind so driven by fashion? And what is it that keeps us coming back for more even after the glances and snickers? For me it's just a passion like an athlete loves sports. I always remember a moment by what I was wearing or how I decided what to wear to a particular event and people (my family included) think I’m crazy. But I think anyone who is interested in fashion has to be a little crazy- see The Asylum. Whenever I buy something I have to dispose of all evidence and hide the purchase in my bag or under my shirt. I do this to avoid the ridicule of my parents, “OH MYY GAWDD! She’s bought another pair of shoes dear!", says my mom in her piercing Australian accent every time I enter the house openly bearing my latest purchase. But it is what it is and as my Uncle Terry would say, no one can kill my passion for fashion.
Although this pair of shoes isn't the latest addition to my collection, they are the most comfortable heels I own. I want to take advantage of the brisk, but bearable fall weather before winter kicks in and these booties make their way to the back of the closet. The only downside: the wasp accessibility. I have an irrational fear of wasps and frantically ran around most of the time while taking these photos. On another note: I've decided to start wearing my button ups one button lower than I normally would and I'm liking it. You should try it too, maybe even with a hat.
