Most Christmas parties have a gift exchange or secret santa. I always have trouble deciding what direction to go with the gift: do I make people laugh (what if know no one thinks the double chin exerciser is funny?), do I get something practical (but those are always the boring gifts - I don't want a window scraper!), or should I make a secret pact with one of my friends to buy for each other (fingers crossed the number draw goes my way... crap I drew 1). Maybe the ideal gift is equal parts funny and girly. Part of the gift could be something that you KNOW will make them laugh and if it doesn't, make up for it with something every girl would like: rollerball perfume, a gift card, vintage jewelry or a coffee table book. It's hard when working with the small budgets that these exchanges usually allow, but that also what makes them fun. So get creative ladies!
Tonic is a Saskatoon staple. It is one of the city's original fashion driven boutiques and now has two locations: one in the heart of downtown and another just off Broadway. Both shops offer tons of fun clothes, accessories and home-ware perfect for the prairie girl. I wanted to put together more unconventional Holiday party outfits (sans sequins and red body-con dresses) and offer something a little more laid back and fun--it is a party after all. The minute I walked into TonicI noticed this simple leather wrap skirt that I knew I had to incorporate into the outfit. The shape of the skirt is eye catching and easily worn as a day time look with flats, a button-up and chunky knit sweater. Fur and leather are a given and how could I resist including this leopard jacket. Also, it will probably be -40°C on the night of the party so one needs keep wrapped and warm. Since this outfit is loud enough on it's own I kept it simple with the accessories; how could a girl deny a clutch completely made of flowers? I thought it added the perfect finishing touch to this outfit. On my feet, are one of my favorite pairs of shoes from Swank Shoe Lounge;they standout but are still refined and extremely flattering on the foot. You can never go wrong wearing white and black to a party.
