This shoot was loosely inspired by Mary-Kate and Ashley - Starbucks (obviously), dishevelled hair, cell phones and of course a little furniture shopping (isn't this something they are constantly doing to fill one of their luxury condos?) It just so happens that shopping for interior goodies is also one of my favorite pastimes. I have a spare room filled with chairs, cupcake stands, coffee tables, rugs and a dining table just waiting to be incorporated into my future apartment. There are so many unique interior stores popping up around the city each offering a different aesthetic. Quite frankly, I can't get enough. Some of my favorites at the moment are Anthology, Metric and Area Home+Lifestyle; Area is the most contemporary of the bunch and I find myself yearning for every piece in the store. I NEED to get my hands on one of these laser cut steel chairs that they carry to nestle up to the perfect little desk - I can't stop thinking about them. I first met Madlin when we walked in a fashion show/shopping event. This show wasn't the Victoria Secret Fashion Show or a runway at NYFW, but it was still extremely nerve wracking. Eyes are glued to each model causing a person to start thinking about their stride, what foot comes next and afterwards seeing all of the photos from the show and thinking, 'Whoa, maybe I shouldn't have had those four cream puffs and ice cream immediately before the show, but hey at least I have this wine in front of me to ease my mind."
The first thing I noticed when I saw Madlin was her beautiful hair and eyes, "I hope I'm not assigned to walk right after her." Madlin's great hair isn't even her best accessory, she is about to complete a law degree to go with it (Legally Blonde? Not-- Reese Witherspoon has nothing on her). After the show I went to a 'law school' party with her and realized that good looking lawyers aren't just 'a thing'. I also realized that Madlin is the type of girl I want to be friends with: charming and a great conversationalist. Let's get to know her...
1. Your ideal Boyfriend’s Closet would be: Pharrell Williams, Daniel Craig or Zayn Malik?
Uh oh, this is a trap.... I wince as I say this, but ZAYN!
2. Mary-Kate or Ashley?
MK all the way. Mostly because she had ADD and my mind tends to be all over the globe.
3. Favorite place in Saskatoon?
The Bessborough: My boyfriend and I went to the Samurai on our first date. After a savory meal and some wine we wandered onto the 3rd floor and found ourselves singing and dancing in the ballrooms. I also love St Paul's Cathedral downtown for it's grande piano.
4. What is the best staple piece in your closet?
My old ballet body suits. I can layer them with any pant or skirt and I feel elegant and snug!
5. If you’re style was a candy what would it be?
A box of belgian chocolates.
6. What’s your spirit animal?
If I can't skip this question, then I'd say a lark.
