I have always been under the impression that silky scarves were reserved for grandmas, Brits at high-tea, waspy moms and Austin Powers. Needless to say, I have never known what to do with all the vintage scarves my granny has gifted my over the years. I would drape them over the end of my clothing rack, admire their vibrant colors and patterns, then forget about them all together. Until now... It all changed when I started to notice a common thread amongst my style icons. Bianca Jagger, Twiggy, Mary-Kate and Carrie Bradshaw all use silky scarves to create their own versions of a turban-like headbands. Adding to my curiosity: SS14 runways - where scarves reigned supreme, fashioned as turbans and neck ties. Now I'm hooked. Scarves can add to any outfit and are a great alternative to the standard bejewelled statement necklace, bracelet, or boring headband. On a side note: I wasn't trying to look like the painting in Chuck's bedroom (Gossip Girl fans you will understand ;)).
