I have so much trouble 'cleaning out' my closet. I feel like even if I'm not fond of a piece anymore I will eventually come to like it again. That's just what happened when I came across this old crochet skirt. After seeing Burberry's SS14 collection I was immediately obsessed with the look of sheer lace skirts and either high waisted knickers or a button up pulled through to cover where there would normally be a slip. I removed the lining of the skirt and threw on a button up that was long enough to be a dress. Boom! I've almost approximated the look, but after putting on a pair of nude chunky heels I decided to switch to comfortable sneakers. Looking chic, stylish or glamorous doesn't mean a person has to be on point every minute of the day. Full makeup, heels and freshly blown out hair are not required. It is not always about looking beautiful, its more about a persons aura, the way they present themselves and the choices they make. This day, for some reason, I was feeling particularly glamorous and I was wearing a scruffy button down shirt, sneakers and had dishevelled hair. I was recreating something that represents glamour to me - beautiful clothes and accessories. The Burberry version might be unattainable at this point in my life, but I can represent the idea of what feels glamourous: something a little girly, but slightly disheveled with a touch of mystic. Others might find the thought of traveling to space or becoming a renowned politician glamourous. It's all about inviting oneself into a particular ideal and living it in some context in their own world.
