Does it look like I'm fake walking? Because I am. Have you ever had a pair of shoes, or any item, that you loved so much you didn't want to wear in fear of ruining them? I had a major Carrie Bradshaw moment when I received my very first pair of Manolo Blahnik's in the mail. They were a Christmas gift from the boy and they arrived just a month ago--before Christmas he had been dropping hints of what the gift could be and I knew it was shoes. On Christmas day I had eagerly ripped open a massive box only to find a small picture of my beloved yellow shoes. Since their arrival 5 and a half months later I've had them just sitting on top of the box in my bedroom admiring them; I even made them a bookstand at one point. Finally, I decided it was time to wear them and of course I chose the dirtiest alley to do so. Trying to do my usual back-and-forth photo walk was painful. I took a few steps and stayed in one position attempting to make it look as real as possible--not so convincing? Since taking these photos I've worn the shoes twice (with extreme caution) and have subsequently been craving another pair. Instead of paying for a months worth of bills maybe I'll just splurge. In the words of the great Carrie Bradshaw, "When I first moved to New York and I was totally broke, sometimes I bought Vogue instead of dinner. I found it fed me more." I would be lying if I told you who Manolo Blahnik was before watching Sex and the City... Yellow suede is the perfect color way for my first pair of Manolo's--very memorable. I really like lemons, bananas, emoji faces, mustard and corn so why not transfer that to my feet in the form of yellow shoes? Next outfit: all yellow. Just wait.
